Peanuts, Nuts & SEF Free Recipes
In Short: (See Food Family List on Right as well.)
"Peanuts, Tree Nuts, SEF" = excludes all Nuts and most, but not all Seeds and their oils. See Seed Free for recipes avoiding all Seeds with no exceptions.
Tree Nut = excludes all Tree Nuts, including Coconut and their Oils.
Peanut = excludes Peanuts and Peanut Oil
Safflower Seed = Safflower Seeds and Oil are excluded.
Sunflower Seed = excludes Sunflower Seeds and Oils.
Sesame Seed = excludes Sesame Seeds and Oils
Marzipan and other products that may have come into cross-contamination with nuts or seeds are also excluded.
Peanut, Tree Nut, Safflower, Sesame and Sunflower = excludes all nuts and seeds and their oils that are considered a Tree Nut, Peanut, and so on.
Why exclude the Oils? I thought that some oils were safe?
I exclude the oils because I am more interested in using healthier oils in my recipes, then creating an authentic recipe. Peanut Oil is very popular in Asian cooking. Instead, I'd rather use Olive Oil and Tumeric or some other herb or spice to give a similiar peanut like flavor.
Tree Nut Family:
Almond, Beechnut, Black Walnut, Brazil Nut, Bush Nut, Butternut, California Walnut, Cashew, Chestnut, Chinkapin, Chinquapin, Coconut, English Walnut, Filbert, Gianduja, Ginko Nut, Hazelnut, Heartnut, Hickory Nut, Indian Nut, Japanese Walnut, Karite, Lichee Nut, Ling Nut, Lychee Nut, Macadamia Nut, Marzipan, Mashuga Nuts, Nangai Nut, Pecan, Pigñolia, Pili Nut, Pine Nut, Piñon Nut, Pistachio, Pralines, Shea Nut, Singhara Nut, Walnut. Gianduia Chocolate or Marzipan will not be found in these recipes either.
Peanut is part of the Legume Family.
SEF: My own creation that includes common seed allergies.
Note: This for those who do not react to seeds found in Berries, but may react to most other seeds.
Free of Cottonseed, Caraway, Celery Seed (Top 12) Flaxseed/Linseed, Hemp Seed, Mustard Seeds, Nutmeg, Pine Seed, Poppy Seeds, Pumpkin Seed, Safflower Seed, Sesame Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Tree Nuts and Peanuts, Amaranth and Quinoa. Will contain Legumes. Also Free of Hazelnuts, Kiwi Fruit and Rye Grain due to cross- reactivity issues in some people; and Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Amaranth flour and Quinoa. (I found one person who needs this.) May contain Black Pepper, Legumes and other Seeds.
I will add to this list as I find people who can eat Berries, but not other seeds.
Severe Seed Allergy:
See Seed Free for recipes avoiding all Seeds with no exceptions. This diet will be suitable for those who even react to seeds found on Berries. Anything that is a legume, seed or nut, or is a spice or flour that can be considered a "seed" or "legume" is strictly avoided. Not everyone with a seed allergy, reacts to all seeds. The spices used are green herbs.
